Observatory Circle is an affluent neighborhood in northwest Washington, D.C., dominated by the circle of the same name „ the grounds of the United States Naval Observatory and the official residence of the Vice President of the United States. The neighborhood is bounded on the northeast by Massachusetts Avenue; on the south by Calvert Street, the Observatory Circle property, and Whitehaven Street; and on the west by 37th Street. The major thoroughfare of the neighborhood is Massachusetts Avenue, which in the area of Observatory Circle is mostly lined with embassies. Therefore the area is sometimes regarded as part of Embassy Row that runs along Massachusetts Avenue.

Every morning and evening, Observatory Circle residents can hear the Naval Observatory play the sounding of colors synchronized to the nationÍs Master Clock. Occasionally, they also witness the Vice Presidential (Presidential, or other dignitary) motorcade careening through the neighborhood. Turn of the century and mid-century detached homes dominate the neighborhood consisting of surprisingly quiet streets for such close proximity to the city. The zip codes for the neighborhood are 20016 on the west, and 20007 on the east.
