The Palisades is a neighborhood in northwest Washington, D.C., along the Potomac River, running roughly from the edge of the Georgetown University Hospital (at Foxhall Road) to the D.C.-Maryland boundary (near Sibley Hospital). MacArthur Boulevard is the main thoroughfare that passes through The Palisades with popular neighborhood shops, restaurants and stores. The Palisades contains a mixture of detached houses, townhouses and apartments. A high point for the year for many in the neighborhood is the annual July 4th parade; the districtÍs longest continually running 4th of July parade in Washington, D.C.

Notable landmarks making The Palisades unique are the old Conduit Road Schoolhouse on MacArthur Boulevard, The Lab School of Washington, the German Embassy, Sibley Hospital, Washington Aqueduct/ Delcarlia Filtration/ Water Treatment Plant, the MacArthur Theater (now a CVS), the Palisades Neighborhood Library, and the Palisades Recreation Center. The neighborhood also boasts of easy access to the Capital Crescent Trail and C&O Canal for joggers, cyclists, skaters and kayakers, as well as Battery Kemble Park for dog walkers and joggers. The zip codes for the neighborhood are 20007 and 20016.
