Karen is the Property Manager of DC Living Real Estate LLC. Prior to joining the DC Living firm, Karen spent time working in the non-profit industry. She served as the Director of Administration at the Cancer Support Community (CSC) headquarters in DC. CSC is the largest professionally led nonprofit network of cancer support worldwide and provides direct services, research and advocacy.
Karen was also a Program Associate with Crossway Community, a non-profit located in Kensington, Maryland that runs a residential and education program for low-income women and children. Karen had a wide range of responsibilities including intake for new residents, admissions and enrollment in the school, coordination of in-kind donations, and overseeing all volunteers.
For the past eight years, Karen has served on the Executive Committee of the DC Design House with DC Living Founders, Skip & Debbie Singleton. All proceeds from the DC Design House go to Children’s National Health System.
Originally from Miami, Karen has lived in DC for over 25 years with her husband and three children. In addition, Karen is an active member in her community. She served as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in Ward 3 and has held various volunteer positions in the local public schools. In her free time, she loves reading, hiking, and theatre. She has a BA in history from Barnard College in New York City.
